We’ve teamed up with Dulux for this amazing Kindness challenge. This is a limited edition medal. We also have some gorgeous Dulux Dog soft toys to giveaway for inspiring acts of kindness.

#TrueColours was established at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. Led by Dulux, #TrueColours is a coalition of organisations across the construction/DIY industry.  The industry came together to showcase acts of kindness and people’s desire to give back to those less fortunate during these challenging and worrisome times.

#TrueColours celebrates those selfless acts, both big and (seemingly) small, that bring hope, positivity and unity, to inspire us to stay connected and do what we can for those most in need.

Through these times of uncertainty we have seen examples of how one small act of kindness can make such a big difference, and it’s never too early to teach this important value.

Even very small children can be inspired to be kind and make a positive impact on those around them.

  • Once you’ve signed up, discuss with your child/children the challenge you are going to set. You may wish focus on a specific act of kindness for the whole month or one act of kindness a day, or even set a target for the number that they need to complete in the month.
  • Keep a record – this is for your information only – whilst we don’t need proof, it’s great for you and your child to see what they have achieved. Feel free to use the Kindness Challenge calendar which you can find on our How It Works page
  • A few days after you have signed up you will receive your shiny #TrueColours medal

Here are a few ideas of kind acts to give your children inspiration:

  • Befriending a lonely child at school
  • Calling grandparents
  • Sharing toys with siblings
  • Speaking kindly to others – tell your family how much you love them.
  • Doing chores without being asked
  • Supporting a local charity or a vulnerable neighbour
  • Post a note or a picture through a neighbours or elderly person’s door
  • Teach a younger sibling a new skill
  • Paint kindness rock
  • Ask elderly neighbours is there’s anything they can do to help (while being socially distant of course)
  • Help parents donate to a local food bank
  • Support a local charity
  • Send someone a joke or a funny picture to make them smile
  • Colour pictures for people you love and put them in the post
  • Offer a simple smile and a “hello” to people while out walking with your family
  • Get a parent to help you surprise someone you live with by making them breakfast in bed

For each medal sold the Great British Children’s Challenge will donate £1 to the #TrueColours nominated charities which are:

Lighthouse Club, Rainy Day Trust, The Care Worker’s charity, Crash Charity, Sebastian’s Action Trust, The Outward Bound Trust, National Emergencies Trust, Macmillan Cancer Support, British Lung Foundation, Shelter and Age UK.

Learning about the impact kindness can have early on will be an invaluable lesson to your children throughout their lives.

Children should always be supervised when wearing a medal.

We are in this together, it’s time to colour the world with kindness. Let’s see your #TrueColours
